ed

Ed
Ed’s first visit to Savannah was in 2005. That trip began a love affair that continues today with the architecture of Savannah and Oglethorpe’s 1733 Plan. After moving to Savannah permanently in 2007, he became the City of Savannah Architectural Coordinator for 3 1/2 years from 2008 to 2012 and managed design and construction of many of the city’s capital improvement projects. Today Ed works with his private clients on architectural projects & doing Savannah Walking Tours in the Historic District. Come join Ed on a lively tour of Savannah and see the city through the eyes of an architect. You will learn about the intricacies and underlying symbolism of Savannah’s famous ward design. Ed will explain how the vibrancy of Oglethorpe’s enlightened utopian plan worked in the 18th century, and how it finds it’s place in architectural history today.

madeline

Madeline
Madeline has been attending the Savannah College of Art and Design for the last four years, majoring in both Historic Preservation and Architectural History. She has been a tour guide since she was fifteen at a lumber baron’s mansion in Michigan. So, it was only natural that when she came to Savannah, she would continue her knack for sharing her passion with others by working as an interpreter for historic sites such as the Davenport House, the Sorrel-Weed House and also by strolling with people through the streets of Savannah to give history and architecture tours. Her interest in her career field stems from the study of people, their built environment, and how we can preserve or study their world to better understand who we are. These studies have taken her from restoring a 14th-century church in the central region of Italy to documenting an old village cemetery in the Provençal hills of France. Take her tour before she’s off on another adventure!
